PRODUCTION PART APPROVAL PROCESS (PPAP)

The PPAP process’s main benefit is that it allows identification of any weaknesses in the production process and assures that all customer engineering and design requirements are met. While developed initially by the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG), numerous other industries have adopted PPAP. PSP can include any document that’s specified in the PPAP manual. However, the most typically supplied documents are:

  • Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA): A report that identifies and corrects problem areas before production of parts
  • Process Flow Diagram: The control plan’s visual representation
  • Control Plan: A step-by-step documentation of how the part is to be produced
  • Part Submission Warrant (PSW): An overall PPAP summary, including the approval form

PSP can currently provide every level of PPAP. Our most commonly requested PPAP’s are Level 4 PPAP (PSW plus customer specified documentation) and Level 3 PPAP (PSW plus all documentation).
